Saturday Smackdown: Vishous versus Reyes

This week's Saturday Smackdown is brought to you courtesy of Ruthie who suggested our contestants!  So without further ado, allow me to introduce our contenders.

In this corner, we have…

Lover Unbound (Black Dagger Brotherhood, Book 5)
Lover Unbound
Vishous by J.R. Ward

Vishous is considered one of the most intelligent of the Black Dagger Brotherhood and he bears the ability to see the future, although he doesn't know "when" the events he sees will happen.  He is often tortured by his inability to save those he loves.  Vishous also requires a certain amount of pain to feel pleasure.  Vishous is notable for the tattoos on his face and genitals (scarred since his father tried to castrate him) and his hand.  Vishous' tale is told in Lover Unbound.

And in this corner, we have…

Reyes, Keeper of Pain by Gena Showalter

The Darkest Pleasure (Hqn)
The Darkest Pleasure
One of the many guardsmen of the Gods, Reyes was with his brethren when they defeated Pandora and wrested the her box from her and thus, he was punished to be the Keeper of the Demon Lord Pain.  A dark and brooding character to be sure, Reyes cuts himself frequently to keep his demon happy. When the cutting isn't enough, Reyes will periodically throw himself of the roof of the Lord's Keep in order to break his bones and damage himself.  He also helped to kill his brother each night as a part of the curse that sent Maddox to Hell every night for his part in slaying Pandora.  With Maddox free of the curse, Reyes no longer must slay him, but he must still inflict brutal pain upon himself.   His story is told in The Darkest Pleasure.

Two powerful men. Two powerful compulsions. Who wins?  Only you can decide. Post your choice and tell me who would win in a smackdown between these two dark and powerful men. One lucky commentator will win a $10 gift card to Amazon!

  1. I think V will win cause his pain was brought on by the actions of others. Where from the sounds of it the other guy was an adult when his curse was inacted.
