Heather Long #Holiday #Giveaway Holiday Musings by @TamiLundAuthor #eBooks #Win

Here’s the thing about Christmas: each and every year, it comes around at just the right moment. It’s that time of year when we’re wrapping up things at work, wondering if you’re going to get an end-of-year bonus, probably starting to think about taxes and whether there’s anything at all you can do in these last few weeks to ensure you don’t pay out the nose. The days are stupid short; if you work a day job, you probably haven’t seen the sun in a month.

Disclaimer! This is all assuming you live in the Western hemisphere. If you’re in Australia, you’re probably scratching your head and wondering what the hell I’m talking about. Or, you’re thinking I’m just another one of those damn Americans, always thinking of myself. Well, not always. I just gave Australians a plug, eh!

Anyway, back to the misery that is December (in the Western hemisphere).

It’s just so… dark. Where I live, it’s also usually cloudy. All the damn time. And snowy. With the occasional rainfall mixed in for good measure. Because there’s nothing quite like driving home and skidding on black ice.

But that’s all okay, because it’s Christmas! The lights! The gifts! The goodwill! The food! The drink! The cheer! The happiness! The decorations and homemade ornaments! Cookies! Family! So much excitement and thrill and wonder—and then the days start getting longer. By the time the holidays are over and it’s time to go back to the real world, it’s actually still daylight when you drive home from work again.

And from there it gets better and better—lighter and lighter and warmer and warmer. And suddenly it’s summer, and life is pretty damn peachy.

It’s like Christmas is the climax of my favorite book. As we draw closer and closer, it gets darker and more hopeless. Just as you wonder how the hell the hero and heroine could ever break free of this terrible, horrible evil moment, BOOM, Christmas. And then there’s a sweet (or sexy—or both) wrap up, and finally (summer), the happily ever after.

Yeah, Christmas is just one more reason I write (and read, and love) happily ever afters.

PS—I know Heather’s giving away all sorts of goodies throughout this hop, and here’s one more: The prequel to my Lightbearer series releases to the public on December 27th. If you want to give this series a try for free, click this link: FREE READ. But it’s only free until Christmas, so hurry! Oh, and Merry Christmas!!

For Heather's Holiday Giveaway!!

As we go into the holiday season, I have been asking myself what I can do or how I can give to others. It has been a tough year for my family and a tough year for many families whether it is our soldiers fighting overseas, their families waiting at home, death in the families, divorces, economic hard times, cutthroat politicians trading on fear and hate and last, but most certainly not least tragedies such as those faced in Paris, Beirut, and many other places.

We are very familiar with the choke of the times. Here, I wanted to give something back this holiday season. Years ago, one of my local radio stations used to have write ins for people to nominate families for Christmas or holiday gift certificates. Nominated families or individuals included those who really were not going to have much to celebrate because they couldn't afford gifts or decorations or a big Christmas meal.

Beginning today and lasting until December 18, I am hosting a holiday give away post featuring an item and the author who is giving it away. To enter, all someone has to do is nominate the person they want to send the gift to and post a short reason why. If that person wins, then the gift will be sent to the recipient with a note wishing them a happy holiday season signed from the author giving it away, me and of course the person who entered them.

So far, I have several authors and items pledged to this effort. Be sure to visit daily throughout the holiday season and nominate those you love and care about and send them a gift – and yes, I will send them around the world!

As a special edition to the giveaway, several of the authors have donated towards gift cards that will go to three lucky commentators for giving the gift of caring to someone else in their lives. Every time you nominate someone for a prize is an opportunity to be listed in this giveaway. The final winners will be announced on December 19, so be sure to watch for it!

Thank you to the readers for hanging out with me each day, even when I have nothing to say (which is far more often than I'd like!).
